A Dark Ages Saga

Please join Castel Rouge in a celebration of the mystique and fun of the dark ages as we present themes from a newly written saga.

More information on all activities will be available shortly, but they include heavy fighting, fencing, lots of classes, contests, archery and thrown weapons.

Cabins and Feast fill up quickly, so get your registration in early!

Where: Ukrainian Park Camp, Provincial Road 222 at Ukrainian Park Camp Road (6 miles north of Gimli, 1 mile north of Camp Morton).

Site Opens: 3 pm Friday, September 2, 2011
Site Closes: 10 am Monday, September 5, 2011

Site is discreetly damp. Dorm type Cabins, washrooms and showers are not wheelchair accessible.

Fees

No merchant fee, but please contact the Steward in advance of attendance.

Full Event: $75 -- includes camping 3 Nights, Saturday and Sunday Brunch, Saturday Feast and Sunday Dinner.

Partial weekend:
Saturday Feast: $20
Sat./Sun. Brunch and Sun. Dinner: $7 per meal

All amounts are in Canadian dollars. Cheques Payable in Canadian to "SCA-Barony of Castel Rouge".

Contact Steward for Single Night Camping Fees. No Site Fees.

Children under 12 half price on meals; Children under 6 no charge on meals.

Weekend package, Camping, and Meal Reservations must be paid in Full by August 29th.

Classes

Embroidery Class: Instructor: Lady Cristina de Bagenold. For beginners to Intermediate. This class is designed for people who know at least one stitch and who may have done embroidery before (eg cross stitch patterns) or would like to start and use it in the SCA. This class will teach you how to get started with your project from ideas to the final product.

How to Tablet Weave: Instructor: Lady Cristina de Bagenold. This course is designed for people who want to start tablet weaving but don't know how. Bring the following:

  • Scissors
  • Thread, at least 2 colours, preferably crochet cotton
  • Loom (optional - you can do this without a loom)
  • 3 straight emery boards, or pencils, etc
  • Beater (optional) – you can use your hand, small ruler, butter knife, etc
  • Tablet cards – if you have them. Some will be provided. Availability depends upon class size.

Pouch Making: Instructor: Karen. Class limited to 12 people, sign up at the event. No class fees, all supplies will be provided.

Hat Making: Instructor: Lady Ásdís Karsadóttir. Bring fabric (1/2 meter for the outside, 1/2 meter for lining), trim or fur, and basic sewing supplies.
