Given to those who have, over time, demonstrated great prowess, chivalry, and leadership in Armored Combat. Recipients are expected to continue to be active in armored combat and to help others become proficient. This award conveys a Grant of Arms if the recipient does not already have one. Recipients may style themselves Black Griffins and may wear the badge of the award, "(Fieldless) a griffin sustaining a sword sable." (Previously known as the Iron Griffin Legion.)
