Her Excellency’s L-egant Tea
Where: Main Hall
When: 2pm Sunday
Do you enjoy tea?
Her Excellency Castel Rouge invites you to an informal tea. Her Excellency will have a variety of teas and there will be scones and an assortment of jams as well as other nibbles. You are welcome to bring gluten free nibbles and some off your own teas, but due to allergies Her Excellency requests that no teas containing chamomile are made in any of her teapots.

“Highway to L”: Fiber circle will happen every evening after supper clean up. Bring your fiber crafts and come join. Location to be determined.


Classes Offered

Basic nalbinding – Taught by Asta
Time: upon request/one on one
Fee: no cost, needles will be provided and can be bought after the class
Learn an ancient yarn looping technique that predates crochet or knitting. Come ready for a challenge. No prior knowledge needed.

Ceramic bowl painting – Taught by Juliana Faye Barclay
Class size: 12 mature students – Rush Seating
Time: Saturday morning after breakfast
Material fee: $15 to be paid at the start of class
Participants will choose a style of design based on historical examples to paint their own bowl. The glazes are food safe so the finished product can be used.
I will have a section of images to choose from. If there is a particular culture and time period you want to do, please bring an image to work from.
The material fee covers the ceramic bowl, glazes, and firing.
An apron or something you don’t mind risking getting a bit dirty would be a good idea.
There will also be small children thrown bowls available to paint for $5. Children have first pick for these bowls and then adults can have a go at these as well.

History of 16th century Turkish style coffee – Taught by Lorette de Chasteauneuf
Class size: 10 people
Time: right after lunch on Saturday for 1 hour
Fee: no cost
Come and learn the preparation method of 16th century Turkish coffee.
Snacks and coffee will be served

Lampworking / glass bead-making – Taught by Amaryllis
Time: Sunday afternoon
Fee: $5 per person to cover supplies
Anyone 14+ who wants to try is welcome to come out and learn. All safety equipment will be provided.

Drop spinning – Taught by Mistress Ainseleah
Class size: One-on-one
Time: Class will be upon request. Ask for Mistress Ainseleah
Fee: no cost try learn. Kits will also be available for $20 with a spindle and roving for those who wish to buy one.
Bring your drop spindle and roving and come learn to spin!

Introduction to Italian long sword – Taught by Laird Dùbhghlas of Yorke
When: Saturday afternoon
Fee: Free – Maximum of 10 people


A kingdom themed largess contest will be held.

Items should be in multiples of at least 6, preferably gender neutral if possible.
Suggested item themes are: for kingdom awards, positions of service (eg cooks) and youth toy box items.
Prizes will be awarded by a populace vote, the royal favourite(s), and the most prolific artisan (items can be different sets of 6).

Saturday Feast:

1st remove – Our journey begins along the Silk Road in a tea shop that line the passages exiting China.

  • Sui Mai (steamed pork dumplings with mushrooms, daikon, ginger and garlic accompanied by a soy based dipping sauce)
  • Sai Yeung Choy Tong (Chicken broth based soup with water chestnuts and watercress)
  • Pickled seasonal vegetables

2nd remove – The caravan has turned south into India where rich peppery spices flow to the rest of the world.

  • Qaliya (Rice prepared with chicken meat and broth spiced with asafoetida, cilantro, basil, fenugreek, and pepper)
  • Minted Marrows (Crisp zucchini slices and celery sautéed with green onions, mint leaves, and basil in mango juice served with plain yogurt)
  • Mongol Yakhni (chicken with garlic, ginger, onion, kaffir lime leaves, curry leaves)

3rd remove – The Middle East is our next stop. A feast of sweet and savoury await our tastebuds.

  • Himmasiyya (ground chickpeas with spiced ground meat)
  • Khubzal-ma’al-Nabati’ (Flat wheat bread)
  • Liftiyya (turnip and carrot with walnuts seasoned with vinegar, murri*, pepper, coriander seed, and sugar)
  • Isfîdhbâja (Lamb with meatballs (ground beef, onion, garlic, some oil, murri*, pepper, coriander, cumin, and saffron) and slivered almonds seasoned with salt, pepper, coriander, and onion)

Murri* sauce: honey, golden apple, walnuts, corn starch, carob, aniseed, fennel seed, black onion seed (nigella), celery seed, salt, lemon juice

4th remove – Our journey comes to an end as we enter Europe from the south through the Mediterranean.

  • Lemon flavoured ice shavings (lemon sorbet)
  • Tortelli (A deep fried cookie filled with ground almonds, walnuts, and hazelnuts tossed with sugar)
  • Dates, figs and grapes
